1099-R box 1 values to appear in 1040-SR worksheet?

In form 1040, line 5a (pensions, and annuities) is blank.
The quick link takes me to line 5a in the 1040/1040-SR worksheet, which is also blank.
The quick link takes me to both of the 1099-Rs.
In each 1099-R, the amounts in boxes 1 (gross distribution) and 2a (taxable amount) are the same, and are correct.

Do I need to hand-enter the sum in the worksheet? If not, how do I get TurboTax to add them and insert it in line 5a?

If the distribution amount in box 1 of the Form 1099-R is the same as taxable amount in box 2a, then Line 5a on the form 1040 will be blank.  This follows the IRS rules as posted in the Form 1040 Instructions.

DoninGA, thanks ... it looks like the IRS instructions for 1040 line 5a changed since TY2022. I re-read the 1040 instructions (https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf), and "Fully Taxable Pensions and
Annuities" on page 27 back up that approach.

In my TY2022 taxes, prepared using 2022 TurboTax Deluxe, TurboTax inserted the sum of the 1099-R box 1 gross distributions (including the fully taxable ones) in 1040-SR line 5a.
