1099 NEC

I have the form 1099 NEC and have entered income into the system.  I put in the TIN number for the payer and when getting down to transmit forms, it is telling me I need an EIN and there is not one on the form.  No tax was withheld on this income so those boxes contain 0s  I need to get these filed ASAP  Thanks

The EIN is the TIN in this case.  Just enter the 9 digit number from the 1099-NEC.

1099 NEC

I did put the number in the box and double checked it was correct, but at point of transmittal....it tells me I must have the EIN number in the box on the form to send.  The form it self says EIN or SS#(which is TIN)... I checked last years return and the form looks same and I did it the same way.  It will not let me transmit the completed return...

Ok, when you entered the 1099-NEC into TurboTax it asked you how the payer's federal ID number was formatted and gave you two options - "XX-XXXXXXX" or "XXX-XX-XXXX".  If you picked the second option the system thinks that the number you entered should be a social security number and not an EIN.  So you need to go back to the 1099-NEC and change the option that you picked to "XX-XXXXXXX" so that the system can proceed.

I will try that...but it really is an SS# and on the 1099NEC it has it listed as a TIN in the SS# format.  Thanks

If it's a social security number it needs to be in the "xxx-xx-xxxx" format.
