I filed my taxes in 2023 with Turbotax. The expert advised me that my daughter needs to files her own taxes since she got a 1099NEC.
I also filed my taxes with Turbotax in 2022 and uploaded my daughter 1099NEC form. The expert never told me about the need for my daughter to file her own taxes. It looks like a professional needs to do her taxes now given the year.
I have called and asked to complain about this fact but the operator dismissed my request.
Thank you

Your dependent's income should not have been entered on your own tax return. That return will have to be amended to remove the 1099NEC income that was entered incorrectly. And your daughter needs to file her own 2022 tax return and pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare for that income.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2021, 2022, and 2023 is permanently closed.
Note: The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac. It cannot be used on a mobile device.
To file a return for a prior tax year
If you need to prepare a return for 2021, 2022, or 2023 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.
Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
If you have self-employment income for which you will pay self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare, you will need to use online Premium software or any version of the CD/download so that you can prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses.
