1099 nec includes buyer rebate

My wife is a real estate agent and frequently rebates commissions to buyer on the CDA

Now , the broker is including these rebates as part of my income wherein I never received this portion of payment

Isn't this incorrect ? I can always expense as rebate but I think the 1099 nec should not include any rebates to buyers

The broker is reporting the gross commissions he paid your wife as he considers that the rebates are given by your wife to her customers.

It is quite legitimate to claim these rebates on her Schedule C.
