1099-G for minor children collecting survivor benefits

Where do I input the income my children (all under 10) receive as survivor benefits from social security on a 1099-G?  I am filing MFJ this year and claiming them as dependents.  The 1099-G section only lets me submit income for either myself of my deceased husband, not for any of the kids. Thanks for the help.

If they are getting Social Security they must have a SSA1099.

Do not enter the SSA1099 for your child on your own tax return.   Someday if the child has other income  (after school job, etc.) and is filing a tax return, for that tax year he will need to include the SSA1099 on his own return.  Until then, it does not get entered anywhere.

You should have received a 1099-SSA for social security benefits.  You do not enter the social security income for your kids on your return.  If they have other income, then you would include the Social Security on their return.  If they do not have other income, then this income is not taxable and not entered on any return.

If this income was on a 1099-G and was for something other than Survivors benefits from social security, then you still would not enter it on your return, instead, you may need to file a return for your children depending on what type of income it was.
