1098T

My  17 year old is a senior in HS and is taking some college classes.  She received a 1098T in her name and we claim her as a dependent so we will file this under our taxes (correct?).  It seems like she would be eligible for the American Opportunity credit, but it looks like that is something that she would only be eligible to receive for 4 years, which would make her ineligible to receive this credit her last year of college (which would be more expensive than the 1098T that was just received).  Unfortunately, we do need to report this 1098T, correct?  We can't "opt out" of receiving the credit this year, so it could begin next year and help out for all 4 of her actual college years (which will be more expensive)?

1098T

You do not have to use the AOC now---and it would be a waste to do so.   You do not "have" to even enter the 1098T if you do not want to.
