My children's father carries obamacare on them because he is required to cover them on insurance. I filed my return using his 1095A because my first return was rejected stating this was missing. It has been 3 weeks now and they still have not accepted my return. My question is does he have to file and show he was 100% responsible (since i put 0%) for them to process my return? Does both parties involved need to file before refunds are processed? He owes money so i know he will not process anytime soon.   Thanks

There are many reasons that a return can be delayed in processing, only the IRS can tell you why they are not processing your return yet.  You can check your online tax record to see if there is any information listed there and if not, you can contact the IRS to find out what is holding up your return from being processed.

I have tried to call the IRS but it will not let me talk to anyone just tells me my refund status is processing. I would like to speak with someone to see if they need more information maybe?

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

It works up until the press 2 it doesn't ask for ssn it just hangs up if you dont answer.

Ok, then the IRS changed there phone tree from prior years.  If it is asking for your SSN after you press 2  "for all other questions" then enter that and see the type of result you get.

After you choose option 2 it says hello thanks for calling the IRS. What can i help you with? and no matter what i say it returns me to the automated system or hangs up.
