1095-C / IRS / ACA concern

Thank you in advance for your feedback. So my daughter is no longer my dependent but as most parents know, sometimes the responsibility of doing taxes for your child continues. She is 21. Our family is using the Pennsylvania Health Insurance named Pennie.com. My daughter is employed 30 hours a week which is considered full time by her employer. They offer health insurance but it is too expensive in my opinion (compared to Pennie, which with credits, has virtually zero monthly cost). Something that certainly helps her out since she makes under $20 an hour.

So, when applying for Pennie I chose that she had no other insurance options that were affordable. I have done this in the past with no repercussions. Today, I received a form 1095-C from her employer stating that they offered insurance and she denied it. I never received a form like this before.

After doing my daughter's taxes, and entering the required info from her 1095-A, she did have to pay in about $200 in taxes.

My concern is whether this 1095-C form will come back to haunt me with fines. If so, will there be an audit? I'm fully prepared to pay back the credits if necessary.

Anyone have any experience in the situation?

Thanks for your insight!

The 1095-C is the form that employers are required to send, usually to show that the taxpayer was covered by the employer's insurance. You do not enter anything from the 1095-C into your tax return, rather, you just stick the 1095-C into your tax files.

You got this form because this is the first year she was working, if I understood your story correctly.

You received a 1095-A and entered it into TurboTax; this is what you are required to do. You do not have to worry about the 1095-C.
