1040-SR

Reviewing my forms and I see turbotax filled me into a 1040-SR.  I am not 65 or older.  How does this happen, and can it be corrected?

Are you filing a joint return with a spouse who is 65 or older?   If not, check the date of birth you entered in MY INFO and see what you entered.  And just so you know, Form 1040 and 1040SR are identical---the 1040SR has bigger print.  All of the lines and all of the calculations are exactly the same.

I do not know why TurboTax choose to print your return on 1040-SR rather than 1040, but it doesn't make any difference to your taxes - the forms have all the same lines and boxes (as I think you know).

I seem to remember a box where you could check the 1040-SR, but I can't find it now. Oh, wait, this is maybe it.

Go to Other Tax Situations->Miscellaneous Forms->Request an alternative media preference, and click on Large print. In your case, you might try to click Standard print (cancels any previous preference).

Neither of us are 65 or older.  Ages entered are correct.  The only thing I can find is a possible death benefit my wife received and the tax form came as a 1099-R.  Some life insurance vehicle from my mother-in-law passing away.

Dyslexia kicked in.  You were correct on the improperly entered age. Thank You.
