Mortgage interest credit

When I enter my mortgage interest paid from my 1098 it does not change the tax amount owed like usually happens when you enter in a deduction. Am I doing something wrong?

your total may not exceed the standard deduction yet...... not until your itemized deductions exceed standard deduction will the amounts change.
