Can I deduct my health insurance premiums?

I have a PPO with BCBS, can I deduct the premiums I pay?

Yes, but if this was an employer-sponsored health plan, it is likely that your premiums have already been "deducted" via reduced taxable income on your W2.  This would be reported in box 12 with code "DD."

If that is the case, don't enter them.  Otherwise, enter your health insurance premiums here:

Federal Taxes > Deductions & Credits  > Medical > 

Show More and then Medical Expenses

I have an employer sponsored health plan, however, I am on a 1099.  My employer still pays half my premium and I pay the other half.

So if my premiums are entered in box 12, then when turbotax says that if I had less than  X amount of medical expenses it won't affect my return,  do I count the box 12 figure?
