I am a teacher and it says I don't qualify for the $300 deduction. I did get a 1099Q but that was for tuition for my daughter getting her masters. I think I did that part right because it is not making that taxable which is right. But, do I not get the deduction for teacher expenses for my job?
Right I know that. But it keeps saying I am not qualified for that deduction. I read on one of your pages that the 1099Q could affect that but I don't understand that. It absolutely won't give me the $300 deduction no matter what I try

I am seeing it say I don't need to report the 1099Q so if I delete it, it then will give me the educator expense. Is that right?
Yes, if you do not report the nontaxable 1099-Q, the educator expenses will be available.
