Why isn’t turbo tax accounting for my $3,000 in donations?

It did not ask me for receipts when filing.

The tag below your question says you are using TurboTax Free Edition. You cannot claim a deduction for donations to charity in Free Edition. You have to upgrade to TurboTax Deluxe.

If you do claim a deduction for donations to charity, you do not include receipts with your tax return. If the IRS wants to see your receipts they will send you a letter asking for them.

Donations to charity are an itemized deduction. The donations will not reduce your tax or increase your refund unless your total itemized deductions are more than your standard deduction.
