Why is there not a check in the software that assesses qualification as a home office, that is, exclusive use as a business space

The way I read the rules, you can't use a home office for any personal activity yet the software doesn't have that as a qualification. I am not employed by any company, so this is completely free lance.

You are correct that a home office has to be used exclusively for your business. You are correct also that the user is ultimately responsible for adhering to tax law.
