Why can't I claim the electric vehicle credit when I assigned the dealer the credit at the time of sale?

Turbo tax is not allowing the electric vehicle credit on my return. I assigned the credit to the dealer.

Since you assigned the credit to the dealer, your purchase price was reduced by the amount of credit assigned.

You are not eligible for the EV credit on your tax return since it was assigned to the dealer.
