Where to put Real Estate Commission

Income and expenses for the self employed are reported on Schedule C. You will claim all of your commissions on this form an the expenses related to selling real estate. Those expenses include advertising, legal and professional fees, cost of operating a home office (if you qualify), use of your vehicle, and many more.

In TurboTax, please do the following:

  • Go to Business
  • Profit or Loss from Business, click Start
  • You will be prompted to respond to a couple of questions related to your business profile.
  • Business Income, click Start
  • If you did not receive a Form 1099 Misc, go to General Income, click Start
