You can deduct the out of pocket health insurance premiums as an itemized deduction on Schedule A. However, you will only get credit for medical expenses including health insurance premiums that are over 7.5% of your adjusted gross income. Please follow the directions below to enter your health insurance premiums.
- Log in and click take me to my return (unless already in).
- Click Tax Tools from the left-side menu.
- Select Tools from the drop-down menu.
- Click Topic Search, type Medical Expenses and click Go.
- On the next screen, You will see the question "Did you spend more than (dollar amount) on medical expenses in 2018"? Answer Yes to enter your health insurance premiums.
Alternatively, you can type medical expenses into the search box and click the jump to medical expenses link in the search results.
