what part of out of pocket is deductible HDHP with an HRA

in 2020 I had an HDHP with an HRA. I had a medical expense that used all of my HRA and also all of the OOP expense. This left me with an OOP of $2500. There is no HRA provision in TT that includes an HRA so is the difference between the HRA fund and the OOP maximum deductible?

OOP = "out of pocket"?

Yes, whatever you spent out of pocket (i.e. with after-tax dollars) on qualified medical expenses - in this case whatever was not reimbursed by the HRA - can go on Schedule A Medical and Dental expenses, to see if you have enough expenses to surpass the 7.5% floor.

HRAs has no reportable requirement on your tax return, so that is why you don't see it in TurboTax.

what part of out of pocket is deductible HDHP with an HRA

OK Bill, I thought that was the case, now I just need to figure out how to enter that into TT.  If I click yes at the window with medical and dental expenses, it takes me to another window with check boxes. HSA, MSA and Medicare Advantage MSA and None of the above. If I select none, it takes me down a path leading to a lapse in coverage and that is not the case. Choices are it ended due to disability or other reasons. I am at a point where I don't know what path to take to get this entered. Do I have to choose one of the NON HRA check boxes that doesn't directly apply like HSA or MSA?

Bill, I jumped out and went directly to medical expenses on the progress page and found out that I would have had to spend far more than I did OOP , yes, out of pocket to make any difference so it seems I have my answer. I don't need to enter what I have.

This is the wrong place. I think you found it the second time.

However, I am a bit concerned that TurboTax is going to think you have an HSA (8889). If, in the Review you get a message referring to the 8889, please do the following to delete all HSA data:

NOTE: if you see a question "What type of High Deductible Health Plan did you have any December 1, 2019?" (yes, 2019), be sure to answer "NONE".

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen

*** Desktop***

3. go to View (at the top), choose Forms, and select the desired form. Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the screen.

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

6. continue with your return.
