What is the current mileage rate for transporting children to childcare facility each day?

There is no tax deduction for transporting your own children to child care, or for transporting other people's children in a carpool or similar arrangement.

If you drive other children to child care as a volunteer for a charitable organization that provides the transportation, you can deduct 14 cents per mile as a charitable contribution to the organization.

If you are in the business of driving children to child care, or if you own a daycare business that provides transportation, you can claim the mileage as a business expense. The standard mileage rate for business mileage is 54.5 cents for 2018 and 58 cents per mile for 2019.

For charitable mileage or business mileage, you enter the number of miles in TurboTax, and TurboTax will calculate the deduction at the appropriate rate.
