Have the right amount  withheld from your paycheck.

Have more withheld from your pay by changing the withholding allowances to a lower number like zero and maybe even from Joint to withhold at the Single rate.  And you can even add an extra set amount on top of it.  If you have other income not on your W2 you should consider sending in quarterly estimated payments to cover it.  If you owe too much on your tax return there is also an underpayment penalty on line 79.
