What does the code d on the w2 form box 12a mean? Are these contributions deductible?

The number in box 12a with the letter D are contributions to 401 K are those contributions my money and, if so, may I deduct it?

401k is subtracted from your federal wages by the payroll dept. You can't deduct it twice.
