Try deleting Form 5405 and re-inputting.

Please see the TurboTax Help article "How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?" for guidance.

That form would only be used if you bought a home with the first time homebuyer credit in 2008, and sold or stopped using the home as your main home in 2019.  If that is not what happened, please write back with more details.

Home bought in 2008 and still in use.  Credit repayment is not complete.  I have a record of the balance still owed and in the interview section of TurboTax it correctly shows that I owe $500.00 this year.  This is shown also on the 5405 worksheet.  When submitted to the IRS (Twice), it get rejected-

Form 1040, Line 60b 'FirstTimeHmByrRepaymentAmt' must not be greater than the First Time Homebuyer Credit amount in the e-file database.

OK, if you only owe repayment and are still living in the house, you don't file form 5405.  (Turbotax may create a worksheet, I don't know why.)

You only include your repayment on line 7b of schedule 2.  (Line 60b is the old form, it seems the IRS did not update it's error message for the new tax form).

The error you are getting would seem to indicate that the amount of repayment on line 7b of schedule 2 is more than the IRS thinks you owe.  So start by printing a copy of your return (or downloading the PDF) and check the amount on schedule 2 line 7b, also check the IRS FTHB database, and see if the figures agree and if they agree with your recall of what you think you owe.

I followed the link, which is the same link that came with the efile rejection.  It gives no new information and matched what we are trying to do.  It's example matches our situation saying $500/year starting with 2010 taxyear and going to the 2024 tax year.  It also says a 5405 should be filed.  In TurboTax, none of the worksheet information is going into the second section of the 5405.  When I over-ride turbotax refuses to let me e-file it.

Whatever link you read does NOT say to file form 5405 if you still live in the home and just need to make a regular payment.  Read it again.

Tax Topic 611 says quite specifically, "If you made a qualifying home purchase in 2008 and owned and used the home as a principal residence in all of 2019, you must enter the additional federal income tax on Schedule 2 (Form 1040 or 1040-SR), Additional Taxes (PDF). You don't need to attach Form 5405, Repayment of the First-Time Homebuyer Credit (PDF). If you dispose of the home or if you (and your spouse if married) stopped using it as your principal residence in 2019, you must attach a completed Form 5405 for you (and your spouse if married) to Form 1040 (PDF) or Form 1040-SR (PDF)." emphasis added

The other link goes to a secure system for looking up your specific FTHB account at the IRS.  You need to see if what you think you owe matches what the IRS thinks you owe.  (The IRS database is sometimes wrong and can get corrupted.)

Great.  I can understand why TurboTax does nothing then with the worksheet except putting the $500 into the extra tax area.  So why has the e-filing been rejected twice?  The amount owed is not even being reported, just my payment (which is correct).

Did you check the IRS FTHB site for your personal account yet?  The error message indicates a disagreement between what you paid and what they think you owe.

If the IRS agrees you owe $500 and you are trying to pay $500, then your return should not be rejected.  Possibly the IRS has a bug or error.  Try again, or give up and print.

If the IRS believes you owe a different amount, then their FTHB database is corrupt.  File by mail and pay what you know you owe, then contact the Taxpayer Advocate to find out why the IRS FTHB database is wrong and get it corrected and make sure your payment is properly applied.  https://taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov
