We have just added 22 solar panels to our home. We took out a loan to get them installed. What would we put into turbo tax as the cost? The loan amount?

The amount that your credit will be based on is the cost of the system and its installation cost. 

It doesn't matter than you received a loan for the costs and installation -- your loan doesn't have to be paid off for you to claim the costs for the credit.
