If you bought a home and paid cash, you can only deduct the real estate taxes or property taxes. You have nothing else to enter for the home purchase if you had no mortgage interest in 2017.  Other costs such as closing fees, etc. are not deductible.

For property taxes, you’ll find this deduction listed under the Deductions & Credits section of your federal tax return.

To go directly to where you enter Personal Property Taxes:

  1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax, and select the Take Me to My Return button on the main screen.
  2. In the Search box, search for personal property taxes and select the “Jump to” link.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you pay personal property taxes in 2017?
  4. On the How much did you pay in personal property taxes during 2017? page, fill in the Personal property tax paid, and select Continue.
