I received the following error when efiling a trust return. This is the first time I've had this. Do I just need to wait for an update like it says? Or is there something else I could do proactively?
Let's Take a Look at Your Return
Description of error: Form 1116 present in the return, then at least one of the following: If there is only one instance of Form 1116 present in the return, then at least one of the following must have a value within it: 'ForeignIncomeSection951ACrAmt' or 'ForeignBranchIncomeCrAmt' or 'ForeignPassiveIncTaxCreditAmt' or 'ForeignGeneralIncTaxCreditAmt' or 'ForeignIncSection901jCrAmt' or 'ForeignIncomeRsrcdTreatyCrAmt' or 'ForeignIncLumpSumDistribCrAmt' or 'TentativeForeignTaxCreditAmt'.
What needs to be done: This electronic filing reject is the result of a defect in the tax program. This reject will be corrected in a future electronic release.

I got the same error. When will the program be updated so the return can be accepted? I have deadlines for clients. Thanks
Yes, this has to do with an update to form 1116. This return cannot be filed at this time due to a processing error that will be corrected on February 27, 2026. On or after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.
I updated the program and sent in the returns on Friday afternoon. They were rejected again on Saturday. I noticed that there was another program update and did that on Saturday and all of the returns were accepted this time. Thanks.
