Confused about Economic Impact Payments. Filing jointly. I received a letter from IRS telling me I received a payment of $1,400.00. My wife received the same letter addressed to her. We did receive the payments. In March of 2021 we received another letter addressed to both of us headed "Your Second Economic Impact Payment". We did receive the payment in the amount indicated in the letter. Turbo tax asked the question "did we receive a third economic impact payment. So even though the IRS letter says "second payment" should I view this as the third payment since the letter was sent jointly to us?

No. Only the 1400 each was for the 3rd Stimulus payment. You should enter the 2800 you received.
The second Stimulus payment was for 2020, that one was 600 per person. It only went on your 2020 return.
So, I should answer that I did receive the third payment?
Yes. You got the 2800 for married.
The first and second stimulus was 2020 for $1200 and $600. The third payment of $1400 was 2021. You should report the 2021 $2800 amount as received. The second stimulus that you received and the letter, may have been generated when you filed your return in 2021 for 2020, which throws off when you got what.
