My sons received stimulus checks. does that make me ineligible for claiming them as dependants. i supported them for more then half the year and they made less then 4000.

It is the other way around ... if they qualify as your dependents, they may not qualify for the stimulus checks.

However, were they your dependents in 2018?  If not, that may have qualified them.  Or did they apply for the stimulus payment at the non-filer website?

The stimulus payment is a credit for the 2020 tax year.   You won't be able to e-file if you claim them on your 2019 tax return since they already used the non-filers app.   They basically filed a tax return when they did that.   You can claim them and print and mail your 2019 return however and claim them both.  It will just take longer to process.

Next year, if you claim them, they may have to pay back the stimulus payment or you can not claim them and they file their own returns since they already collected the stimulus payment.
