self employed health insurance

the way turbotax deducts the insurance does not reflect on my state return

i enter all the info on my 1095-a and receive a credit on the federal but since these premiums are not on my sch a or medical expense, it doesnt carry over to my state

It would depend on what state you are filling for, but if your state allowed you to deduct itemized deductions that weren't deducted on your federal tax return, then there may be a remedy for you. You would have to file the federal return first. Then go back and modify it to move the health insurance deduction over to the itemized deduction schedule A, then prepare the state return and file it separately from the federal return.
