SALT numbers not adding up

It seems that TurboTax is calculating some additional number into my SALT deduction and I cannot figure out what it is.

- State income taxes withheld on my W-2: $2339
- Local income taxes withheld on my W-2: $2286
- Local income taxes owed from 2023 that I paid this year: $2212
- Property taxes from my 1098: $2956

This totals $9793, $6837 from income tax and $2956 from property taxes.  So why is my Schedule A showing $12,108 in total paid taxes, $9152 income and $2956 property, thus a capped at $10K deduction?  How do I find out where that extra $2315 is coming from?

If you don't elect to deduct general sales taxes, include on line 5a the state and local income taxes listed next:

  • State and local income taxes withheld from your salary during 2024. Your Form(s) W-2 will show these amounts. Forms W-2G, 1099-G, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, and 1099-NEC may also show state and local income taxes withheld; however, don't include on line 5a any withheld taxes you deducted on other forms, such as Schedule C, E or F.
  • State and local income taxes paid in 2024 for a prior year, such as taxes paid with your 2023 state or local income tax return. Don't include penalties or interest.
  • State and local estimated tax payments made during 2024, including any part of a prior year refund that you chose to have credited to your 2024 state or local income taxes.
  • Mandatory contributions you made to the California, New Jersey, or New York Nonoccupational Disability Benefit Fund, Rhode Island Temporary Disability Benefit Fund, or Washington State Supplemental Workmen's Compensation Fund.
  • Mandatory contributions to the Alaska, California, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania state unemployment fund.
  • Mandatory contributions to state family leave programs, such as the New Jersey Family Leave Insurance (FLI) program and the California Paid Family Leave program.

None of these additional things apply to me.  I have listed all of the numbers I entered.  How do I figure out why TurboTax is putting a number on 5a that is larger than the sum of the things I entered?

Go to the print center and print out the Tax & Int Wks - that will show you the taxes the were pulled for Schedule A.   To print the worksheet, choose that specific form from the print menu.
