No, you do not have to have a dependent to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, but there are additional requirements if you don't.

thank you! I made more then the 15k for a single person no dependants! which explains why i didnt get the working families tax credit of $600 from my state as well! okay makes sense now i know not to wait for it ! thanks
