Personal Property Tax Field Won't Accept Entry

Cannot enter a number or total from a detailed worksheet into the field 2020 turbo Tax. It is locked and only shows $0  There is a total shown for the prior year 2019

There are several things you can try.

The program allows two ways to enter property tax, but there is a specific order to do this.

1. The first is to enter it directly under Property (Real Estate) Taxes; however, you must do this before you post the 1098 for your mortgage.
2. If you have a 1098 for your mortgage you can enter under Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098) at the bottom of the input screen.  This will be posted to your summary page as Property Taxes.  (After this is posted the "Property Tax" inputs will be limited to Additional and foreign taxes.)

There are two other ways to clear entries from your return.

The first thing to try is to go into the section that has the form  (Less Common Income)

1. select the entry that you want to clear. 
2. On the right hand side there is a trash can. 
3. Select the trash can and confirm you want to delete that form.

 Finally, you may be able to Delete a form:

1. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
   1. My Info
   2. Federal
   3. State
   4. Review
   5. File
2. Select Tax Tools
3. On the drop down select Tools
4. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
5. This will give you all of the forms in your return
6. Scroll down to the form you want to delete
7. Select the Form
8. Click on Delete.
9. Always use extreme caution when deleting from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.

John thanks for response. Ultimately solved this myself working with my wife. The solution was simple. In past returns I have used a memo computation to populate this field. As I imported my return info from last year's return apparently knew this which is why I could not simply type in a value in this field. The mistake I was making was doing a single right click to open the memo field. I needed to do a double click. As soon as I double-clicked, the memo field opened, I updated the numbers and it populated the total in the field, simple.
