Lifetime learning credit

My scholarships and aid exceeded my tuition amount yet the program is saying I can still claim the lifetime learning credit, am I really eligible or am I probably answering a question wrong?

Lifetime learning credit

You must have answered part of the interview incorrectly; you wouldn't be considered eligible for the credit.

Since tuition that's paid using scholarship funds isn't considered to have been paid by you, you can't claim the education credit.

Please see "No Double Benefit Allowed" on page 24 of IRS Publication 970, Tax Benefits for Education for more information.
