I had $33,400 worth of damage to my home in May, 2024. I had a $2,500 deductible, so I lost $2,500. How do I claim that loss?

You can go to

Please use the "Learn More" link for that section since there are several rules that pertain to what can and cannot be claimed and where the loss is reported.

Casualty losses are no longer deductible on the federal return unless caused by a federally declared disaster but may be a deduction on your state return.
