Filing through Turbotax will not keep you from getting the stimulus for a child if you are otherwise eligible. How old was the child in 2019? The stimulus for children only includes dependents under 17.
My son is born in 2006. he is 13 years old now. he is leaving with us as parent ( my wife and myself ) and no one is claiming him as depended other than us.
Per the IRS:
If you did not receive the full amount to which you believe you are entitled, you will be able to claim the additional amount when you file your 2020 tax return. This is particularly important for individuals who may be entitled to the additional $500 per qualifying child dependent payments. For VA and SSI recipients who don’t have a filing requirement and have a child, they need to use the Non-Filer tool (link) on IRS.gov by May 5 in order to have the $500 added automatically to their $1,200 Economic Impact payment. We encourage people to review our “How do I calculate my EIP Payment” question and answer (See question 11).
actually the IRS calculates the age of the child in 2020 becuase that's the return where the actual calculation takes place.
@VictoriaD75 I myself fall under the category of a non filer on April 14th before the IRS opened a portal for non filers I signed up under your Turbotax and filed mine and my children's information I didn't receive any of the plus 500 for anyone of them and did it before the April 22nd deadline and I'm unable to contact or find out what to do before this next May 5th deadline since I went under your Turbo tax link
We are not currently aware of any way to request additional payments now for payments that are not correct. Some taxpayers have reported that their payments have come in multiple deposits.
There are a number of reasons that the IRS may not send payments for children in the advance payment being sent out now, including if the children are listed on more than one person's return (the IRS may not be able to determine which person is entitled to the payment for 2020.)
However, there is no way to be sure what may have happened in your case.
Any payment that is less than the full amount to which a taxpayer is entitled can be claimed on the 2020 tax return when filed.
You will receive the $500 per child as a credit on your 2020 tax return, when you file in 2021.
