Hi
On form 1116 line 3d the amount for gross foreign source income is coming up exactly double what it should be. Gross income form all sources line 3e is correct. Where is it pulling this information from so I know where I went wrong. Thanks!

From TT's guidance:
Form 1116 (COPY 1) : Line 3d
Part I, line 3d, all columns:
From the corresponding copy of the Foreign Tax Credit Computation Worksheet, line 1f of the corresponding column. Additionally, if this is a General category of income (Box d is marked above), and there is an entry in the related column in the Income Excluded on Form 2555 Smart Worksheet on the Foreign Tax Credit Computation Worksheet, then from the corresponding copy of the Foreign Tax Credit Computation Worksheet, line 1f of the corresponding column, PLUS Form 2555, line 45, of the indicated copy(ies) of Form 2555.

I am having the same issue... my foreign income appears as twice what it should, causing an error that won't let me finish my return. I appreciate the thoroughness of the response given already, but from that answer I can't figure out how / where to change something so this isn't happening. Can anyone point me to the place in the interview I should change an answer or how to get directly to a worksheet so I can edit an entry? Thanks!
(my situation is that i'm trying to enter foreign earned wages income and corresponding foreign tax paid for each of a couple married filing jointly)
I know this is late but I just had a thought. I am no expert and could be totally wrong!!
Are you excluding all of your earned income on form 2555, and are filing a 1116 just to show that you have paid the tax due in your foreign country? Maybe the answer is not to file the 1116 at all. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere whether a 1116 is necessary in that situation.
