QMID must be exactly 4 characters in format: Letter-Number-Letter-Number (e.g., A1B2). Letters must be uppercase A-Z.

Use V9W0 (the numeral zero) and not V9WO (the letter 'O')

Further update:  If I go to google this exact string:  "pella gmid code", get the text for V9WO, and then use windows copy to paste into TurboTax form 5695, it works OK and TurboTax does not flag the QMID code as error.  Typing in the V9WO string does not work, causes an error (see my snip above).  Perhaps this is a software bug... you might want to write up a ticket on this, as I found it extremely frustrating and I'm sure others will also.

@kcnpkris On my test online tax return I typed in V9W0 on the page Tell us how much you paid for energy-efficient improvements and then an amount.  Had no issues whatsoever in completing the Home Energy Credit section.
