Me and my spouse, both got the payments separately. Both of us got forms 6419, with my wife receiving two of them with different amounts.
1. The total of amounts received by me and my wife, separately, do not match the amounts shown of either of our 6419s. They are completely disconnected. Not sure where they got the numbers from.
2. Wanted to follow IRS guidance here ( https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/special-tips-for-the-advance-child-tax-credit-and-filing-the-2021-tax-r... ) but our online accounts also do not match the amounts we actually received either.
3. The IRS site, Child Tax Credit Update Portal however shows correct amounts processed for me but my wife's account omits some checks she received.
As you can see neither of the IRS's paper letter nor online accounts show correct numbers. They both show amounts less than what we actually received.
All the guidances everywhere online only talk about scenario where amount received is less than the amount claimed by IRS and what to do in such a case. The guidance says IRS online account is considered accurate by them (which is definitely not, at least in my case) and hence we should ignore 6419 letters and file with the amounts shown there.
I don't want to put false info on taxes, even though their guidance suggests me to do so. I do not know why they sent me money and then made it complicated for me to file taxes. These direct deposits and checks are traceable by them. Not sure how they missed them.
My question. Is it suggested to follow their guidance and file an amendment later for trnsactions not accounted for by them or I should enter the actual correct amounts right now while filing. ?

Enter the true amount if you are sure your total is accurate.
If the IRS adjusts your refund and sends you additional credits, they will also send you a letter and you will be able to work with the IRS more directly to get it all straightened out.
If you think you received more, enter that amount. Please be sure you do not include the Stimulus Payments with any Advance Child Tax Credits you received. They are different.
The fact that your wife received two letters indicates something is not right.
