Child born in 2021

My child was born in June 2021 and of course was not included in my taxes for the previous year. When will I be able to add my dependent to receive the child tax credit?

If your child is born in 2021 you have two options. You can either wait and file them next year and get the Child Tax Credit then, or you can use the Child Tax Credit Update Portal and add your child. Here is the link, https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/child-tax-credit-update-portal Per the IRS website the option to make changes to dependents will be available late summer.
