Charitable Deductions - Verification

On my "edit" screen my Charitable Donations total $5944.90.

But on my Turbo Tax Summary Screen Charitable Donations show up as $18,530.  Why the difference?

I have attempted to wipe out and re-enter charitable donations, alter amounts etc.  The summary shows over 3 times the detail amount.

Sounds like the form is corrupted.  Here is  how to delete the form.

Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

Now go back to re-enter the correct amount.  This should correct your error.

There's also a limit on how much you can deduct. The basic rule is that your contributions to qualified public charities, colleges and religious groups can't exceed 60 percent of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) (100% of AGI in 2020 for qualified charities).
