I re-entered the work sheet. For no logical reason it accepted it as correct this time. I did nothing different. I wonder if the problem has been fixed? Anyway, filed. 2022 might be a year to try another tax program.
Federal 1040 line 12b Charitable Cash Contributions under CARES Act can be entered or removed at either:
Make sure that you address the deduction being at either possibility.
Go to Tax Tools / Tools / View Tax Summary / Preview my 1040 to view line 12b for the charitable deduction.
@DPNJ
Although I thought that TurboTax was entering the allowable $600 charitable contribution correctly, when I was going through the details on the 2021 Tax Breakdown page, it listed $0 for charitable contributions because I had taken the Standard Deduction.
Is this correct? Or, are we (married filed jointly) entitled to a $600 deduction (our's was more)?
And, can I have someone look over the final screen to make sure it is correct?
I'm completely confused by these instructions. Can someone look at my screen and lead me through it?
You would need to click on the live help button in the upper right hand side of your screen to get someone to look at your screen. We cannot see your screen here in the community.
I've tried this -- and my refund amount does not change -- perhaps it does not show up in the "detailed tax breakdown" page?
Also, now that I have deleted all of my charitable donations, in the final "detailed tax breakdown" charitable donations does not appear at all.
I think that you are seeing the proper presentation.
In TurboTax Online, I am able to generate a Charitable Cash Contributions under CARES Act deduction reported on Federal 1040 line 12b.
Under Federal / Deductions & Credits / Your tax breaks, Donations to Charity in 2021 reports $0 charitable deduction.
Review reports You're good to go!
@MarylandRetriever
Thanks. Although I wish the tax summary would reflect that deduction (instead of having to look at 12b on the 1040 form). Still thank you again — I submitted my taxes!
see you next year!
