I'm sorry, but no. Even though it's a major purchase for you, it doesn't qualify as such for the purposes of your tax return.
How do you define "major purchase" or "major item" for the sales tax deduction?
You could add the sales tax that you paid to your itemized deductions. Instructions for entering sales tax are in this TurboTax Help article.
There is a spot in the taxes for itemized sales tax deduction. However, if you choose the $126, you will need the proof of all the other sales tax you have paid to add that in
@JakeLee is correct. In order to deduct the additional purchase with the $126 sales tax, you'd need to have ALL of your sales receipts from 2021 totaled.
To clarify the above, You would need the $126 plus any sales tax you paid in 2021 documented. The easy way may be just to take what you are allotted. Just saying. Back before the restrictions, I actually collected all my receipts for the year. When I filed. I was audited. I sent them copies (some 100 copied pages with 10 t0 12 receipts per page.) I never heard back from the IRS.
You can deduct all your sales tax that you can prove with receipts, in which case you can include the stove.
Or, you can use the IRS standard amount which is based on your income and where you live. The only thing you can add to the standard amount is sales tax paid to buy or build a home, make a major renovation to a home, or for purchase of a motor vehicle or airplane. The term "major purchase" is not really correct and, in my opinion, should not be used.
