QMID I7Q6

I received a notice from the IRS stating my QMID number is incorrect. I verified the QMID I7Q6 Amana/Daiken manufacturer which is on their approved list. It is my understanding that there are issues with the I looking like an L. However, on my form it clearly has the I with the line on the top and bottom of the I.  Another issue I have found is that on the 5695part 2- 17a,b and c all are checked NO. according to the IRS instructions on the worksheet, if any of these are answered NO you will not qualify for the Energy Efficiency Credits. The IRS wants me to resubmit the 5695 which I am trying to do. I cant seem to get any assistance from the IRS on those questions and they said to contact my preparer.  I see two issues. Please advise.

QMID: The IRS is sending the QMID letters to everyone using any software with anything looking like ones and zeroes. When you resubmit, make sure the letters and numbers are clear, maybe use block letters or attach a copy of the QMID certificate.

Yes/ No:  Must be yes to main home, new, qualified property

Here is the form and instructions, About Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits. You can print the form to fill in yourself. This will allow you to hand write the QMID in large letters, circle the QMID to make it easy ;for a person to see since the IRS computer is struggling.

I could be wrong, but I suspect you are wrong about that.  They may be sending letters to anybody that used software that did NOT follow the directions that the IRS about "I" and "O" (don't fill out the form but include an attachment), which includes TurboTax, but it seems unlikely that the IRS is sending notices to people who used software that actually did it according to how the IRS wanted it.  In my opinion, it is Intuit who really dropped the ball on this one.
