Put in my property taxes paid which was $1920 and 0 that was the amount that was not on my principal residence. but it won't go through or am i reading it wrong

It depends, the answer assumes you are referring to itemized deductions on Schedule A.  You can take all property taxes. The most common is property taxes on your home however you can use all real estate/property taxes paid, in 2023, on any property you own, assuming it's not rental or business property.

 

  1. Sign in and open your return if you're not already in it.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for property tax and select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
  3. Answer Yes to the question Did you pay property or real estate taxes in 2023?
  4. Enter your property/real estate taxes on the next screen.

It depends, the answer assumes you are referring to itemized deductions on Schedule A.  You can take all property taxes. i'm on my state return 1040 and i don't have any other property just my home residence.

If you only have one residence, take out the zero that your entered for "not on my principle residence".
