We have never filed added property taxes to a tax return before. Trying to file taxes now and it refers to the MN 2017 property tax statement payable in 2017, however this is not available until March 2017. Also says filed by August 15 and use form M1PR. Does this mean we have to come back in and add this again when we receive it? Or do we not file until we get it? Is there a way to know if we would qualify or not so that we know if we should file now or wait? Is this something we should have filed last year?! HELP!

You can file a claim of refund for your Minnesota Property Tax for up to one year after the due date (August 15). You can check on the status of your Property Tax Refund after July 1 by using Minnesota's Where’s My Refund system.
Homeowners will use the Statement of Property Taxes Payable, renters the Certificate of Rent Paid (CRP)
Don't file a claim of refund without these forms.
You can also e-file this directly through the Minnesota Department of Revenue, if you choose. For more information: http://www.revenue.state.mn.us/individuals/prop_tax_refund/Pages/ElectronicFilingforRentersRefund.as...
