I've received a monthly survivor's pension from Ohio STRS since my husband's death in 2008. This is reported on my 1099-R. Do I need to enter this on TT Ohio where it asks me to enter my survivor benefits deduction?

It depends on when the benefits started. If you are collecting this benefit because he died while he was still working, you can claim this deduction.
The Survivor Benefits Deduction is for survivor benefits that are paid solely because of the death of the worker. If your husband retired, received benefits for a while and then you collected the benefits after his death, that does not qualify for this deduction.

Thank you so much. This used to be explained within the app much better than it is now. I believe they used to clarify by saying that if you are receiving a "continuation of benefits" then the Survivor Benefits deduction will not apply. That is the case with me - my benefits are a continuation of what my late husband received before he died.
