Non-Dependant for EIC?

I have a daughter that turned 20 on 11/3/16. She receives SSI but does work part time. She made $9000 in 2016. I did file her taxes as she doesn't understand how. Now I'm doing my taxes & I'm confused. I know I can't claim her as a dependant anymore but can I claim her as a non-dependant for the EIC? She still lives at home & I still support her also.

No, she doesn't qualify you for the EIC, because she is no longer a "Qualifying Child."

Your child must meet one of the following:

    • Be under age 19 at the end of the year and younger than you or your spouse, if you file a joint return
    • Be a full-time student in at least five months of the year and under age 24 at the end of the year and younger than you or your spouse, if you file a joint return
    • Be permanently and totally disabled at any time during the year and any age.
