Non Deductible IRA Contribution

Turbo Tax is asking me about Non Deductible IRA Contributions, and I'm no sure how to answer it.

My wife had a rollover contribution back in Tax Year 2019 of $242,659.28 (Fair market value of $251,854.70) from a work 401K into a regular IRA.

We had to end up pulling $40,000 for personal reasons from that IRA in 2025 and had $12,800 Federal Tax Witheld (taxes and early withdrawl penalty)

As i'm entering that 1099-R Gross Distribution and Withheld tax, it is asking me about "non deductible IRA contributions"...and I'm not sure how to answer that.

Non Deductible IRA Contribution

You would likely answer that you did not make non-deductible IRA Contributions.

Non-deductible IRA contributions would be contributions to an IRA that you designated as non-deductible. Similar to a contribution to a ROTH IRA, the distributions from such an account would not be taxable. Since you rolled money into the IRA from a 401-K, it would not typically involve non-deductible contributions. The only way it would factor in is if the 401-K account was a ROTH 401-K, which is not typical.
