Hi,
I leased an EV last year and I believe dealer included the credit to reduce the upfront cost. Now when filing my taxes do I still need to fill form 8936? Looks like it requires Clean Vehicle Seller Report(which I had no idea 🙂 but I don't have it and it is getting hard to get hold of somebody at the dealership to provide it. Any recommendations how best to get it sorted out so as to not to be late in filing taxes?
Thanks in advance and regards

No. There is no need to include the leased EV in the Energy Efficient Vehicle Summary.
No. The Leased vehicle is not eligible for the credits. You must actually buy the vehicle. You do not need to include form 8936 with your return.
Oh. Thank you very much. So, is there then no need to include the leased EV in "Energy-efficient Vehicle Summary" section then?
No. There is no need to include the leased EV in the Energy Efficient Vehicle Summary.
Thank you. Is there then no tax rebates when leasing an EV :I ?
No, there is no tax credit for you to take on your tax return for leasing an EV.
Keep in mind that the LESSOR (the car dealer) can get a credit on the EV you lease, so you can always try to bargain with the dealer to have part of the credit he gets applied to lower your lease payments.
