For my mortgage interest deduction, Turbo tax fills out the Home Mortgage Interest Worksheet. The amount on line 22 of Part 3 of the worksheet shows an amount less than the mortgage interest that I paid. It says that this should be reported on Schedule A line 8a. The number is the same as what I calculated based on IRS publication 936. However, on Schedule A line 8a, TurboTax still shows the total amount paid rather than the reduced amount on line 22 of the worksheet. It appears that there is an error in Turbo Tax.

It is possible an adjustment has been input that will override the calculations. Go back to the mortgage interest topic in the step-by-step mode and go through the interview to arrive at the page titled "Your Mortgage interest is being limited" (see below). In the "Adjustments" box you may need to re-enter the calculated amount.
I have entered the calculated amount in the box as you have suggested. It still does not show the reduced interest deduction in the itemized deductions on Schedule A.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions:
TurboTax Online:
Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
TurboTax CD/Download:
If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
I'm having the same issue. This is definitely a bug in the system. How did you end up getting it to work?
