Health insurance premiums are deductible as a medical expense if you itemize and the total medical expenses are greater than 7.5 percent of your AGI.
You can deduct the amounts you paid for medical insurance on Schedule A of your Form 1040. However, medical expenses are an itemized deduction and you can only include the amounts over 7.5% of your AGI. If the total of all of your itemized deductions is not more than your standard deduction, you won't see any tax benefit on your tax return. If your Medicare premiums were included on your SSA-1099 that you entered into TurboTax, these amounts have already been transferred to your Schedule A.
